Re: Internet providers to be able to block piracy sites in Canada?

Would I reliable VPN defeat what the CRTC may try to implement?

I would suspect so if you came from a "different" country.  I use Nord so would expect no issues.  Be interesting to see what they try and define as a pirate site.

Re: Internet providers to be able to block piracy sites in Canada?

I'm also on Nord and find it works very well on most U.S. sites - and other parts of the world, although I don't regularly find myself on sites in Australia or the U.K., so I can't really speak to its reliability there. I resisted paying for a VPN for a long time. I'm not sure I'd be without one now.

And while I don't access pirate sites, the idea of any government telling us what we can or can't access online in Canada (with perhaps the exception of criminal sites like child porn) is deeply disturbing and worrying to me. Because, theoretically, where does it stop?

Re: Internet providers to be able to block piracy sites in Canada?

My wife wanted to see a series that was Australian TV only, Nord worked like a champ.  Though I agree with the stay the f*ck home order right now, I do get concerned with "you shall not watch what we don't want you to watch" laws.  You "shall not visit websites we don't want you to" laws.
