The Huffington Post has announced it's shutting down all of its Canadian operations, and leaving some 23 people out of work. Several more are being laid off in the U.S.
The U.S. version will go on, but It's not clear how much - if any - Canadian content will appear on the site. The move comes just weeks after workers here decided they wanted to be part of a union. So much for being the voice of the little guy.

So did this happen because the Canadian operation just unionised or did the staff unionise because they realized HuffPo was in trouble and wanted to protect themselves?

The Huff Post Canada Union tweeted today that the cuts were in play way before their union was formed.
Also, several international Huff Post writers currently living and working in Canada on visas are now stranded in a foreign country in the middle of the pandemic.
