I do way too many of these posts about radio spots that are completely unintelligible and now there's another one running constantly on nearly every station. It appears to use something like Sonovox or Autotune, with an electronically altered voice singing about some sort of product or other.
Yes, it doesn't sound like any other commercial on the radio, but there's a problem - it's almost completely garbled because of the special effect they insist on using to grab the audience's attention. It took me about 10 repeated listens to finally make out it seems to be for Door Dash, the food delivery app. But I have no idea what else it is they're pitching. A discount? A change? A special offer?
I don't know (and don't much care, since I would never use it) but this is yet another example of an advertiser trying to sound different from anything else on the air. That's admirable, but if you can't make out what it is they're saying, what the heck is the point?
If you haven't heard this yet, stay tuned. It's running in heavy rotation on stations across the GTA. Unfortunately for Door Dash, it's too clever - but not too clear - by half.

I still wonder what that spot was where someone calls a number and the family sings on the greeting. I think it might've been BMO, but I could never make that one out either.

But at least that BMO commercial (and that's what it was) had an announcer at the end with a tag, trying to explain what they were singing about. The one I'm talking about is so out of tune with normal ears that the first six times I heard it, I honestly thought it was a spot for Jordache Jeans. (Do they even make those any more?) If you hear Door Dash said in an unclear and garbled robotic voice, it can sound a lot like Jordache.

I once saw a hockey game played on an ice rink made of frozen pants.
It was so the teams could change on the fly.

Just heard it RA, it sounds like a Ryerson radio first year student doodling around, and compared to this, the mouthful of marbles woman robot voice for the amber alerts is easy to understand...🥴

I finally heard the ad on 1150. Incredibly irritating and annoying and yes it does sound like Jordash. I have never had any interest in using these food delivery services. If I was considering trying such a service, this ad would certainly make me reconsider my decision.
