Even Bell Wouldn't Go This Far In Firing Someone

This story comes from the Buffalo News and centres around a guy who was fired from WUFO, an urban and hio hop formatted station, and succesfully sued them.

"Sheila Brown, the majority owner of WUFO, made numerous comments regarding his religion and gender, including that he was not "godlike" and that God had told her he "needed to perform in a Christian manner," according to his lawsuit.

Robert Frank also claimed that Brown would pray with people in the office and pressured him to become a member of her religious organization."

Fired radio worker says boss told him he wasn't 'godlike.' A judge awarded him $500K

Sorry about that. I got through with no problem and Outline does not seem to work on this one.

In essence, the guy was upset about comments the owner made regarding his religion and beliefs, but he'd also gone behind her back to a co-owner complaining about her. He wasn't aware she was an owner as well, and that's when the axe fell.

In the end, the judge didn't seem to really take the questionable comments into account but ruled that the station did not respond in a timely way and awarded him damages of nearly half a million.

Here's a shorter, but more accessible version of the facts in the Buffalo News article:
