as geo mentioned, i do a 2 hour oldies "thing" on Wed's at noon (on blasttheradio.com) reliving my days on pelmorex's good time oldies, and since we've been commenting on songs that have been re-recorded i thought i'd go a step further (but shying away from being re-recorded by the same artist). tomorrow, i'm going to feature songs recorded by 2 different artist (the original and a "popular" cover). for a few, i've gone a bit beyond top 40 (but the songs are still recognizable)... and yes, pat boone has been included... (shrug). btw, "no good to cry" has been included (i know i'm not the only one here who enjoys the original).
note: the show will be recorded late tonight (mon.).
things are pretty packed but i have room for a couple more. any suggestions??? (the songs must have been released in the 50's, 60's, or early 70's... 1973 cut-off).

Misty by Johnny Mathis and Misty by Ray Stevens. They're the same song, but they couldn't be more different.

Actually I meant the Arbours. Cross Country ( who were really the Tokens) did a charting cover of In the Midnight Hour.

"rusty's good time oldies" there was an error in the listing (it was a recent oversight) but they did list my sunday country outlaw & alternatives show. the oldies show airs today at noon ( www.blasttheradio.com )... geo has been known to listen.lol btw, over 2 hours i aired 13 (x2) same songs different artists (that's all i could fit)!

While these are both terrific takes of the song, two other versions of note, never to be forgotten:
Erroll Garner (the pianist who wrote the song) -- from Contrasts in 1954
Sarah Vaughan w. Quincy Jones & Orch -- from Vaughan and Violins in 1959

Garner later re-recorded another superb version of Misty on his Columbia album Other Voices, with Mitch Miller
and Orchestra.
