There would be no SOWNY Board without the guy who founded it so many years ago. Now I’ve just learned that our own Dale Patterson, who also runs the great aircheck site RockRadioScrapbook.ca and Oh Wow! Radio, has added to his list of accomplishments.
He’s won Bronze in the Independent Publishers Book Awards in the humor category. His tome, called “Close But No Cigar,” recounts the stories of people who come oh-so-close to their shot at fame but – in the words of Agent 86 on the old Get Smart TV show – “missed it by that much.”
It’s a wonderful book with great stories and I can’t wait to read what he comes up with next. Anyway, congrats, Dale. Nice job and well deserved. I only hope more people will get a chance to read your work.

I had forgotten about his recent publication. Is it available for purchase in fine book stores everywhere?

From one Patterson to paterson1, thank you!
After two anxious weeks of watching & waiting, one of Mr. Amazon's elves finally arrived w. the book
Am already at page 34: the story of when Dick Clark horned in on Bob Horn
It will be going into the reading room where a well-worn copy of Uncle John's Bathroom Reader regularly attracts attention (not intended as sarcasm, that's a prestigious reading location)

I hope Dale won't mind when I say its bite sized chapters are, indeed, an excellent companion in the john. Although you may end up sitting a lot longer than you intended! Also great if you're on the subway.
