Live from New York...it is Saturday Night, back for a 46th season

Wow, SNL is back once again, for it's 46th season, this is incredible, especially in this day and age of short lived shows, cuts, changes...yet the Simpsons and SNL seem to stand the test of time.

If you think back to the social changes SNL has lampooned or made fun of or the political issues they've poked fun at, the one thing that hasn't changed is that nothing really has changed...

The old adage, the more things change, the more they stay the same rings true for what SNL has covered over the years.

Here is more on SNL being renewed.

Now, share what or who your fave SNL skit/character was or is.  There are so many...I like Katherine McKinnon's work, especially when she does Hillary and goes at it with Alex, when he does Donald Trump...

Comment away and remember, you, you look Mahvellous!!!

The funniness ebbs and flows. But some facts are glacial in their clarity - Fear was the best musical guest and Wayne Gretzky was the unfunniest guest host.

I forget it’s still on. The show hasn’t been funny this century.

I always thought Eddie Murphy's "White Like Me" sketch was some memorable satire. Given everything that's going on today, I'm not sure how it would go over now.

Dan Aykroyd as "Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute"

Aykroyd, Curtin, and Newman as "The Coneheads"   "I am a driving instructor"

Garret Morris shouting the Weekend Update news in "NEWS FOR THE HARD OF HEARING!!!"

Anytime Buck Henry was on as the guest host,  and paired with Belushi  "Samuari Delicatessen"

A show that has had it's good and bad seasons but no taking away all the talent over the past 46 years.
Mike Myers- Sprockets (now ve daunce..)
Dana Carvey- Church Lady (well isn't that special..?)
Kenan Thompson- Sumpin' Clause (hilarious funky Christmas skit/song they should run every year)

If the following performers were in a skit, it was usually worth watching in my opinion-
Bill Murray
Kenan Thompson
Mike Myers
Kate McKinnon
Bill Hader
Martin Short
Kristen Wiig
Will Ferrell
Tina Fey
Molly Shannon
Phil Hartman (one of the best ever)

Wow, does this bring back memories. But maybe not for the reasons you think.

We all know what happened to Lorne Michaels. But Hart Pomerantz left comedy and became a lawyer, specializing at the time I remember him in employment law. (Long before all the legal eagle types who advertise it today.)

I was part of a group that hired him during a dispute with a radio station and I recall not being terribly happy with the way he represented us. But I'm sure he's still in the biz and I hope for his sake, he's successful in his practice. The one thing I remember best in his old office was a framed cheque near the door. I don't recall the amount, but if memory serves, it was signed by Woody Allen.

Toronto lawyer flirted with career in comedy, thanks to fateful call from Lorne Michaels

Here is another parody skit of "The People's Court"...  The SNL writers and cast nail it...

Jon Lovitz, Phil Hartman, Jan Hooks, Kevin Nealon, Rosanna Arquette
