NP says it was unable to independently confirm. Curious to know of any actual tangible examples.

Private media outlet thinks CBC sucks, reports other private media outlet. Clearly a STOP THE PRESSES! moment.

Don't they have the right? After all the taxpayer is funding their direct competition.

Perhaps, if the 'taxpayer funding my competition' sophism is their central argument. Not often that it is.

Of course they have the right. They have the right to do the chicken dance if they so choose.

Quebecor has had the ugly on for CBC/Radio Canada for years. Part of the reason is that CEO Pierre Peladeau is a sometimes separatist, and Radio Canada was hard on him when he was head of the PQ. So some of the grievances are sort of historic, personal and political.
Unlike CBC in the rest of Canada, Radio Canada does well in the ratings in Quebec and is back and forth with Quebecor's TVA for the ratings crown. Advertising revenue wise RC does very well and Paladeau doesn't like the millions that the public network scoops out of the marketplace which makes for less money available for private broadcasters.
Radio Canada tends to be more mass appeal or mainstream than CBC, and this is one reason they have stronger ratings. TVA has a lot of popular locally produced programs, but also schedules a fair bit of dubbed US programming and movies. Like CBC, Radio Canada is almost all Canadian programming.
