There are reports that Bill Evanov, the President and C.E.O. of the Evanov Radio Group and Dufferin Communications and the owner of Jewel 88.5, Proud FM and Z103.5, among other stations, has died. There's no immediate word on the cause of his death or his age, but he was in his late 70s. It's also not clear what this will mean to the firm or its broadcasting properties.
He started his radio career in sales at CHIN before branching out, operating CING-FM among other stations, before taking over CKMW (now CHLO 530) in Brampton as the first of the many stations he owned. Overall, he totalled more than 50 years in the business.
Evanov was inducted into the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame in 2011, the same year he won the Allan Waters Broadcast Lifetime Achievement Award.
As the linked chart indicates, he was the major owner of the company that bears his name.

Heard from what I’ll call a “very reliable” source.
Too bad, he was such a passionate “Radio” guy...willing to to do things he believed in

Sadly it is true. I have known Bill for many many years. I loved his positive view of life and also that of radio. I applaud the differences he made in peoples lives - yes.Self made - yes. Thinking outside the box - yes! And so much more.
Good Night Bill - God Speed.
