The Buffalo News has a nice profile of a jock who's been on air, mostly at WGRF, since 1976, almost 45 years. In this day and age, that's a pretty remarkable record. His name is John Piccillo, but he goes by the initials "JP" - and he's the last of a dying breed.
"Piccillo is one of the last of a dying breed in the world of rock radio – a DJ who has a genuine interest in the music he plays and the artists who made it. He said he enjoys telling listeners the stories behind the songs – not only Beatles songs, but songs by other classic rock bands, including Led Zeppelin and the Who. Piccillo also has a daily show on 97Rock and hosts a one-hour Led Zeppelin show on Sunday nights at 9."
Little Steven says 97 Rock's 'JP' is a 'national treasure'

He is a great jock. I listen to him fairly regularly. Love the workforce lunch block at noon each day which includes an hour's worth of four song batches by a variety of bands. Always kicks off with a Beatle block. The live tune at 2 is another cool feature.
