If You're A Radio Manager, Be Glad You're Not Working At This Station
Talk about having a bad week. If you're a P.D. or working in a management position, just be glad you're not answering calls at this station. A talk show host at KNUS Denver went on the air Wednesday, talking about the historic impeachment debate underway in Washington and complained that the proceedings were so boring, it almost made him "wish for a nice school shooting."
And yes, he actually did say that.
Remember this is the same state where the infamous Columbine massacre took place. So whatever your feelings about Trump and the theatrics going on in D.C., it's beyond insensitive.
But that's not all the people in charge are dealing with. They're also trying to get to the bottom of reports that one of their talk show producers put up pro-Nazi posts on social media!
Not sure who's in charge at KNUS (or from the sounds of it, if anyone is) but what a nightmare week-before-Christmas this has been for the guy or gal in that corner office.

The station has now fired the guy who made the idiotic statement and it cost his co-host wife her gig, too.
Its official statement was terse but clear:
"The history of school violence that has plagued our community, 710 KNUS confirms that an inappropriate comment was made on the Chuck & Julie show by co-host Chuck Bonniwell. A programming decision was made to end the program immediately."
No word on what happened to the alleged neo-Nazi staff poster.

I doubt they'll put their best people on the investigation of the Nazi shit.

I was curious to see where KNUS ranks in the Denver ratings. They don't because the station is not a ratings service subscriber. I suspect the station would have a tough time competing with established news/talker 850 KOA which sits 18th in the market. Also, KNUS has a very tight, directional 5K signal compared to KOA's 50K blow torch.

What in the world is going on at KNUS? What a bizarre and horrible place to work it must be. Just a week after the stupid school shooting comments cost a host his job, comes this equally strange tale from the same place.
