640am is the place for late night radio

Especially for breaking or ongoing news like the two fugitives in Manitoba. Well done 640am. 1010 is missing in action.

Re: 640am is the place for late night radio

Good to see AM 640 trying their best to be first with news 24/7.

Seems like only yesterday when they first promised it... (33 seconds in)

In related news, Corus Entertainment (CJR.B) shares sank yesterday to a six-month low, closing at $5.13

I have to say I'm also impressed with some of their later evening programming. I find myself listening to a lot more of it than I expected, and have all but tuned out CFRB after 4 PM.

For a very long time, I'd complained that they were a part time radio station. Not any more. Not only that, they're actually using reporters on their newscasts now, covering stories in real time. For years, it was strictly copy on everything and you could forget about breaking news or press conferences.

It appears it all changed when the Global rebranding came and Shaw stepped out of the picture.

If your receiver failed and you could lock onto a single Toronto radio station (and your choice couldn't be changed for, say three months) what would your choice be?

640

Are you insane? I'd rather throw myself in front of a Toronto TTC Subway train than to have to listen to AM 640 for 3 months.
I agree with RA...time to buy a new radio...PERIOD.

I purchased a Sonos box. Now I am no longer limited to just Toronto radio.

Quite the brilliant, difficult question Ms.C!
Choosing between John Moore and Stafford? No can do.

Provided the time frame was from September to end of June, I'd listen to only TSN 1050, three months of endless talk about hockey would make those months fly by...

Bryan Hayes, O, and Noodles every day at four on Overdrive, I'm in.

and cash, thanks for this thread, I've started listening to Drex overnights, he is that consistently good. The man even seems to have the super power ability to recognize when he's begun saying 'uh' multiple times during a break, and STOPPING the verbal crutch.

then I must have caught you on a couple of good nights drex, you had Justin enough segments containing multiple "ums & ahs", that alternated with "regular" conversation segments on the four nights I listened...  I'll tune in again once the alleged* teen killers story dies down/resolves itself. Solid coverage but it's not the best for anything but unnerving dreams.

*anybody else notice that the word alleged is being left out more and more by some on-air hosts/reporters when this story is being reported on
