Ice Surfing...Twitter and Sportsnet team up!

Ice Surfing begins tonight to augment Sportsnet's hockey broadcasts, they are teaming up with Twitter to broadcast live over that social media channel.

What you the viewer gets is this:

Now that we’re in the thick of the NHL post-season push, every game is a must-watch event as teams jockey for position in the standings and make a push for playoff contention. It’s a fun time for hockey fans—heck, even those rooting for lottery teams—and it also makes channel surfing a sport in and of itself. That’s why, this Thursday, we’re bringing all the NHL’s best must-see moments directly to sports fans, all in one place: your Twitter feed.

Hosts Jeff Marek and Jason York will broadcast live via Twitter...

So, the questions for discussion are...will other media outlets follow suit soon?

Is there room for radio stations to do this?

Do you like the idea?

Personally, I am not sure who it is intended for as far as who the ideal customer of hockey content is?

It will be interesting to see the ratings...

The world would be so good if it weren't for some people...

Re: Ice Surfing...Twitter and Sportsnet team up!

I caught the inaugural entry on this. I saw the view count only ever reach as high as 30k and I'm sure that includes people auto-loading the feed when they hit Twitter's home page. This was produced in studio with a few camera people and crew. No idea if those economics will work out for them.
