He was a Shakesperian actor with a tremendous voice and delivery. But to most of us, he will always be Capt. Jean-Luc Picard.
Patrick Stewart, the lead of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," which brought the iconic show back to television, has died. He had briefly been battling one of the worst forms of dementia, called Lewy body, which often causes some terrifying but seemingly realistic delusions. (It's the same form of the disease that led Robin Williams to take his own life.)
Stewart was not only the star of the new Trek, but did just about everything else you can think of, from epic plays and movies to voiceover work, even appearing as the CIA boss on Seth Macfarlane's animated "American Dad" series. He first started playing Picard in 1987.
He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2010.
Patrick Stewart was beamed up at age 86.

Ironic that his passing comes just three days after we learned about another iconic actor from the original Star Trek universe leaving us. Walter Koeing, who played Chekov in the 1966-1969 NBC series, was 90.

Hmm, CapricaSix. Does the word "frack" mean anything to you?

"Frack" means absolutely nothing to me. If it has anything to do with Star Trek, that would be the reason. I had zero interest and have never watched any of the various series.

It has nothing to do with Star Trek. It’s a reference to a show from which I took my username.
