It's captured the attention of at least one MP, but doesn't yet have enough signatures to give it any heft.
But either way, a request to ensure you never wait on hold for more than 10 minutes before reaching an actual human being during a call to Rogers, Bell or Telus customer service would certainly be a positive step. But given how these guys operate, there's almost no way it will ever happen.
New Petition Wants Rogers, Bell and Telus Hold Times Capped at 10 Minutes

Rogers used to have a feature where you could punch in your phone number and get a call back when a service rep was free usually within 30 minutes. That feature seems to have been discontinued. I realize this isn't convenient for everyone but I have found if you call in the first hour after opening, your call is taken almost immediately. As for waiting long periods of time, I just put my phone on speaker and catch up on the programs that I have PVRed.

This is a great idea that the telcos will simply laugh at, like they do with anything the CRTC tells them to do. To quote RA, “but given how these guys operate, there’s almost no way it will ever happen”.

You have a better chance of being disconnected after ten minutes and having to call back in again.
Technically, that is one way to say you weren't on hold for more than ten minutes... ![]()
