She was the subject of much controversy here when she was on the air in Toronto. And now Reshmi Nair has more to deal with than just media critics. The former broadcaster, who also worked for CTV and the CBC, is recovering from a stroke she suffered in February.

The incident temporarily robbed her of her ability to walk and speak and it took months of rehab to allow her to live on her own again. But she's not sure if she will ever be able to return to broadcasting.

Still, she stresses there was a positive to the terrible experience.

“Because I was a live broadcast journalist, I was stressed out every day. Now I have more patience, and I don’t talk as much,” says Nair. “When I’m with my friends, everyone else talks and I just listen. Sometimes I don’t agree with them, but that’s OK. I don’t have to do anything about it. I don’t have to speak. I’m just getting more perspective.”

Wow! That was just a month after her appearance on Toronto Mike. I had NO idea this had happened.

Was'nt a fan of her and her politics, but hopefully she's ok.
If she wants back into radio, she would fit in perfectly on CJTM or CIUT or as a podcaster or influencer.
Please don't put her back on 1010.

“There is a common misconception that strokes only happen to older people or those with significant medical problems,” says Muccilli. “But stroke can happen to anyone, including young, otherwise healthy adults. That’s why it’s so important for everyone to recognize the signs.”

I'm very glad Reshmi is on the road to recovery and I can't wait to get her back on the pod.

This is terrible. It sounds like she is recovering but the fact that she may not work in broadcasting again, regardless of what you think of her, is sad. I wish Reshmi all the best.

While I was never a fan of her politics or her show, I do hope she has continued success in her stroke recovery.

But, for her and her fans, its sad she cant talk and she won't be in broadcasting.

I know your her friend, but that gives you know right to call me, another user an idiot.
You have good podcast, but don't use that language to a user that's just saying her politics are a better fit for campus radio or the cbc where she should have stayed.

Agreed.

Not everything has to be about politics, Scarborough. You've been abundantly clear where you stand and who you do and don't care for.

Sometimes it's more than sufficient to just wish someone well when they're ailing and leave it at that.

Have to agree. This isn't about politics, it's about health.

I hope she recovers fully and finds something new for her talents. No one deserves to go through this, but at least the news is good that she's on the mend and at 44, is still young enough to get beyond this. I wish her well.

Yes.
Maybe that's why she took somuch time off from 1010.
Now, i simpithise with why she had to take somuch time off.
I used to think she was a spoild snowflake making excuses not to work and not to commit to every day responcabilities.
I'm glad she' on the mend.
Hopefully, she can have a good life ahead and not suffer through another stroke.

She's no john moore politicaly and she's no john moore inturms of talent.
She should have stayed on the cbc.
I still hope she's well, but I was hoping bell does'nt let her do a talkshow on 1010 and maybe just get her back as a news reporter.
