Every year, we have the same debate here: when is too early to go all Yule all the time? Whatever your answer, surely you'll have to agree that Sept. 28th is too soon. That hasn't stopped a Utah FM station from going all Mariah Carey mode, playing nothing but Christmas tunes, presumably well into late December.
“People are pretty excited about Christmas music,” Rob Riesen, program director for KLO and sister station Now 97.9, said Wednesday. “We realize it’s early again, but there’s a demand for it, and we want to give our listeners what they want.”
The people I feel the most sorry for has to be the announcers, who have to put up with this for the next three months. God help them.
Christmas in October? A Utah radio station is already playing holiday music, because ‘there’s a demand’

And unless they're doing something daring and innovative, it's probably the same four hours of music on repeat that most stations drag out every year.

Christmas in October should mean someone's stunting a new format.
What about Halloween music?

You'd think that, but according to the article, this station did the exact same thing last year - only on October 7th. Which is still way too early.
That did lead to a format change. But would they possibly be thinking about swapping formats again only a year later? I guess we'll find out in January.

About christmas music, does anyone miss star 102.5 and its christmas music?
They wer'nt afrade to play the religious carols, crooners, and even novelty songs like Dominic the donky, santa must be polish, and the 12 pains of christmas.
I'm trying to find an alternative, Iheart is the closest I can find, except, they don't include novelty songs and they repeet the same songs on some channels like iheart sacrid christmas.

I think Christmas music should be played from early December until Boxing Day. Playing it before Remembrance Day is just wrong in my books as it seems disrespectful to me. I enjoy Christmas music but am glad to see it go after Christmas Day, gets to be a bit much hearing Mariah Carey five times a day!

Unlike you, I love christmas music untill orthodox christmas.
I get sad when stations stop playing christmas music after the 25th.
But, I don't like the newer christmas songs, I love the carols and crooners and christmas songs in different languages.
I wish stations like zoomer and chin extended there christmas music, why do we have to listen to all I want for christmas untill zoomer plays reda macNeil or untill chin plays interesting carols from italy, portugal, poland, or serbia?
Cant CHFI be like star was and be brave?
How about some novelty christmas songs other than the chipmunks, or some east-coast christmas carols and songs for the huge population of cape brettoners and newfies in toronto.
Instead, we just hear the same, and chfi bairly goes older than the 60s or 70s.

There's only 1 christmas song that stations should play on the 11th, john mcDurmut's christmas in the trenches.
But, no radio station's brave enuf to play it.
The only one that played it was galaxie's traditional holidays channel, galaxie was the bravest one in canada.
During christmas, I used to jump from star to galaxie and sometimes to ez rock before it swiched to boom.
