Every year, we have the same debate here: when is too early to go all Yule all the time? Whatever your answer, surely you'll have to agree that Sept. 28th is too soon. That hasn't stopped a Utah FM station from going all Mariah Carey mode, playing nothing but Christmas tunes, presumably well into late December.
“People are pretty excited about Christmas music,” Rob Riesen, program director for KLO and sister station Now 97.9, said Wednesday. “We realize it’s early again, but there’s a demand for it, and we want to give our listeners what they want.”
The people I feel the most sorry for has to be the announcers, who have to put up with this for the next three months. God help them.
Christmas in October? A Utah radio station is already playing holiday music, because ‘there’s a demand’

And unless they're doing something daring and innovative, it's probably the same four hours of music on repeat that most stations drag out every year.

Christmas in October should mean someone's stunting a new format.
What about Halloween music?

You'd think that, but according to the article, this station did the exact same thing last year - only on October 7th. Which is still way too early.
That did lead to a format change. But would they possibly be thinking about swapping formats again only a year later? I guess we'll find out in January.
