It's been a long time since Roseanne Barr was on TV, let alone in a weekly series. She virtually disappeared from the medium after making racist comments about an Obama associate in the U.S.
Now, after years of being kept off the medium, she's trying for a comeback with a new sitcom called "Meemaw." She plays the matriarch of a survivalist family. But here's the real news about this show: you may never even get the chance to see it.
Turns out Barr couldn't get anyone to buy into this thing, so she financed the entire production of all the episodes herself and is now looking for a buyer for the completed show. That's very rare in TV to go ahead with such an expensive project without guaranteeing anyone will ever air it.
.
"Roseanne couldn’t get a network to finance her comeback, so she went ahead and made the show herself. Now she’s got eight episodes and no buyer. That’s a very expensive gamble."
So far, no one has shown any real interest in this ready-to-air sitcom, although there are reports right-leaning channel Newsmax is looking at it. But how bad are things when you have to sell your comedy show to an all news channel?
Which leads to this question: given her previous huge success and her eponymous ABC sitcom, would you watch this, even out of curiosity?

I would likely watch one episode out of curiosity.

Perhaps she can go the Byron Allen route and buy time on a network and sell ads to recoup her costs. Which presupposes any network would be interested - or she could cover the buy costs.

Maybe Showcase or a channel of that ilk is an option for her.

I was never a fan of Roseanne Barr and it didn’t surprise me when she “disappeared”, as she’s racist and I doubt any broadcaster or streamer is going to take a risk with her again. I could be wrong!

When golfing with buddies, we call a duffed shot a 'Roseanne' because it's 'short, fat, and ugly'. With all due respect, of course.
