If you're planning to watch either of the Major League Playoff games on Sportsnet Thursday, you'll want to know this: like Bob Dylan, the times they are a-changin'.
A heavy storm that's expected to reach Toronto on Friday morning will hit Cleveland first the day before, forcing MLB to move the Rays-Guardians game five hours earlier from its scheduled 6 PM start to 1 PM, hoping to get the match in.
As a result, the Brewers-Dodgers game will now air at 8 PM instead of 9 o'clock.
This could also affect programming on the Fan 590, which has been carrying the division series, and will likely take out the shows that were supposed to air in the afternoon if they carry it.
It's a one time only change and so far, any future games are scheduled as normal - weather permitting.
Updated Thursday start times: 1 ET (ALCS Game 3), 8 ET (NLCS Game 4)

Too bad more stadiums don't have a retractable roof. Weather is never an issue in Toronto at the Rogers Centre. No cancelled or delayed games because of the weather.

Fascinating! Who knew?

MLB sets all playoff ticket prices. For Brewer fans they can expect to shell out anywhere from $250-$2200 for face value tickets depending on location. The odds of ever getting tickets at those prices are slim to none. The secondary market will be most fans only option.

Turns out the Fan didn't offer the early playoff game. I'm actually a bit surprised, because their usual offerings aren't that compelling and an MLB playoff game to reach the World Series might attract a bit more interest.

Actually, a game at the Rogers Centre was postponed because of weather-related problems in 2018:
Also, rain disrupted a game in 2012:

I stand corrected. However 2 postponed games in 37 years isn't bad, and only one of them because the roof didn't work properly.

Here is an interesting rainout question for you. Since Dodger Stadium opened in 1962, how many rained out games have there been? The last one was in 2001. Answer: 17. The Padres down in San Diego have had 19.

As it turns out, The Fan had no baseball on Thursday at all, despite two significant playoff games being played, one in the afternoon and the other at night.
They chose to stay with regular programming, skipping the Rays-Guardians afternoon game. And the Leafs faced off against Buffalo at night, which meant no playoff baseball anywhere on the local radio dial.
I chose to listen to the Brewers-Dodgers broadcast while out walking the dog on WMVP Chicago. Gotta say after last year's World Series, I loved the ending.

I wonder how many games have been rained out or delayed in cities with a climate similar to Toronto. Places like Detroit, Cleveland, NY, Chicago. I know Milwaukee Brewers stadium has a retractable roof but it is not watertight and has a history of bad leaks during heavy rainstorms. Having said that...Good luck Brewers, congrats defeating the LA Dodgers last night!

The play-by-play announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers made sure team favourite, the late Bob Uecker, had a hand in the final call of the team's ascension to the World Series for the first time since 1982.
Well done.
