Another Story Of How Rogers Can Drive Even Non-Subscribers Crazy

The Toronto Star has the story of how a simple fix for a non-Rogers customer led him into a maze of frustrating bureaucracy, "its-not-my-job-ism" and aggravation for a Toronto homeowner who simply wanted a hazard on his property caused by the company removed.

What a man named Roy Underhill went through illustrates a lot of why so many people can't stand this company.

“I am not a Rogers customer and do not want to become one,” he said in his note. “Rogers seems to have no way to accept a request to do anything about this cable.

“I visited stores. I called on the phone. I tried several paths through their web page. Unless I can provide a phone number that allows them to find my account, they are unable to accept input from me (except possibly if someone wanted to become a customer.)”

An unwanted Rogers wire hung over this Toronto man’s yard for 13 years. Removing it was an ordeal

Re: Another Story Of How Rogers Can Drive Even Non-Subscribers Crazy

I had a similar situation years ago when we moved into our home. There was a Rogers connection box hanging in my backyard, about six - seven feet above the ground, I could reach up and grab it like the guy in this article. The thing is that I worked for Rogers at the time and even then I had a struggle finding someone to deal with it. In the end, they only removed it about two years later when they replaced their old cable, and damaged my hedge!! Hate Rogers.

Sportsnet would find a way to mess up the livestream anyway.

Why not remove it for them?

Re: Another Story Of How Rogers Can Drive Even Non-Subscribers Crazy

It's not just Rogers......just got off of an hour and 50 minute phone call to Telus only to be told that no one there (India I suspect) can do anything to help me.

After years of the other side of our 70 year old street having Fibre Optic cable, Telus came along this summer and installed (dug up the lawns burying cables) Fibre on our side of the street. We agreed to let them bury a cable to our house and that we wouldn't need to be here for them to do it. We did not agree to become a Telus customer at any time. We're with Bell now and once the Fibre cable is completed to the house I will call Bell and get them to do the install. The cable has been completed (buried) along the sidewalk for our street and the rest of the streets in our neighbourhood. Many or most of those houses have had the bundled cable run from the sidewalk to their houses.....we have not and neither has a neighbour beside us (the neighbour on the other side of our house has). We have this bundle of cable on our lawn that I have to cut around when mowing and if not buried soon will eventually be covered by snow. I called Telus' contact number.....but seeing that I'm not a customer I got handed off a couple of times and on hold for way too long only to have the last agent tell me that they couldn't do anything from their end to help me......I hung up in his mid-sentence. I had had enough. So now I'll just wait and see if someone eventually gets around to burying our cable.

As a side note - I was talking to a Bell Repair Tech two streets over and he was telling me about the butcher job the Telus crews did burying cables in the neighbourhood. Many Bell and Rogers cable lines have been cut and I've never seen so many temporary strung lines in the area as there are now.
