What's so special about sportsnet and tsn premium compared to the regular versions?
Do you get to watch extra games?
Do you get extra channels, if none of these, then nuthing special.

You get access to pretty much every NHL/MLB game. Only blackouts are the games available locally.

Rogers does something similar at the start of the NHL season. For the first two or three weeks they unlock Sportsnet+ hopefully to expand their subscriber base. I had the service when it was in the $200 range for the season. Now it is $349. I don't love hockey that much!
