I saw it at my friend's house a few weeks ago. It's fantastic and worth a look. It not only deals with The Price is Right, but Jeopardy and a host of other famous game shows, exploring how they originated, the people who created them, the changes they underwent before finally hitting air and the battles they fought to get them on TV.

Re: Program Note:TONIGHT

I watched the show this morning.  Well done.  Game shows sure generate a lot of money and have ratings similar to most shows in prime time.  In fact now that many game shows are now in prime time especially in the US, some actually have better numbers than scripted shows.

Interesting that many of these programs have a strong Canadian connection.  I noticed in the credits that Cream Productions which is based in Toronto must have been heavily involved since their name came up a fair bit in the credits.  And the ending showed tax credits for Ontario and Canada. I have noticed this in others from this excellent series.

Re: Program Note:TONIGHT

Not only does it get money from Ontario et. al., it hires local talent to play some of the roles for the recreations. I discovered that by surprise when "The Brands That Made America," also shot here, did the story on how ice tea - which was unknown in the U.S. at the time - was introduced there and eventually became a multi-million dollar industry.

They had this short interlude where the executive who took over the Lipton Tea Company was talking to one of his deputies. I'm watching it and I thought to myself, 'man that guy looks familiar.'

It took me about a minute to understand why - the guy playing the role was my cousin, who lives in Toronto but who I have not seen in several years. I couldn't believe it! I didn't even know he was interested in acting! A literal small world. And you know what? He was very convincing in the role.
