Why would Rogers do this?!?!

I believe that she is hosting from Chatham, as her linkedin site  says she's been at CFCO for 18 years

I have listened to CFCO from the early 1960s (when I lived in Michigan)  and through the 70s and mid 80s in Chatham.   It had such a great heritage, with announcers like Pete McGarvey,  Dave Hodge and others.
It was a true full service station...I remember phoning the overnight DJ and making requests with my friends.
When I worked in Chatham,  CFCO would broadcast Sunday church services, and for a while it had a extra studio in Wallaceburg.

It looks like it isn't only Bell, Corus and Rogers that are ruining formerly great stations.

Here is my beef with all of this. First CKNX AM 920 in a Distinguished Sponsor at the IPM in Walkerton. This is a big event for small towns and villages in Ontario. But they now have no on-air local shows to promote the station with.
Like most media companies they have a lot to be proud of in there history but nothing to promote about what they are doing today.

Also the CRTC seems to think the Wingham market is flush with cash and is not affected with the realities that other markets are facing.
What has happened here shows the CRTC is wrong and is out of touch. Its not only about the balance sheet, its about how much local on air shows are being produced at the station.

In this case local content is being produced in the CKNX building but outside of news that is shared between 3 radio stations, and Friday night hockey, nothing is happening for the station where it all began.

I guess they could go back to there original call letters and call this a JOKE

This is from the CRTC website, and what I am basing my option. If the market is doing so well, how come there is less local programing.
What the CRTC thinks and what is really happening don't match.

CKNX bills itself as Real (Classic) Country, the CFCO format is 'Hot Country' which is vastly different than classic. Not sure how well this will go over with the audience, but hey we saved a PY or two. They may as well go FM too as they would have probably changed their format once this happens. Have they merged their Wingham signals (101.7 and 94.5) with other stations.

Also in the mid-western Ontario area we already have two hot country stations, Bayshore's 104.9 out of Goderich and 'The Ranch' out of Listowell. There used to be some distinction to make CKNX stand out from the other cookie cutters. 

It seems every day there is less reason to listen to local (which really isn't) radio.

I don't know if you will see this done on "THE ONE" because it's a local only brand with a fairly popular morning show with a financially stable station.   COOL is already doing this in some markets/dayparts so very possible for them.
