I miss Lyndsay Morrison when she's not on CFTO's 6 PM news. Her replacement, Jessica Smith, is a fast talking but otherwise pleasant replacement. But what in God's name is her obsession with "The Downtown Core?" Every weather report includes an endless focus on downtown Toronto, as if it's the only place in the city that matters. 

The GTA is a big place, and sometimes there are different conditions across the city. It rained like crazy in Durham on Monday, but where I was in northern North York, there wasn't a drop. And relatively few people live downtown compared to the vast size of the suburbs and the rest of the city. 

Yet Ms. Smith constantly references "the downtown core," as if it was the only place that exists here. I have no idea why, but she's certainly not talking to me and a lot of the rest of the audience.
