There may be one reason to watch this year's All Star Game. It's the first one ever to use "robot umpires" in the majors. I wonder if they'll give it arms, so it can literally eject pitchers who argue with it! Anyway, a historic first that may make this otherwise pointless contest more interesting.

As a fan of motorsports, I record numerous events and watch them throughout the week. I get three dedicated racing channels on my Eastlink package, Fox Sports Racing, Rev TV and Racing in America , and not to forget the Nascar, F1, Indy car and drag racing coverage by the main networks. . A motorheads delight.

It's back. Not so bad this year as there is the World Cup tomorrow and Wednesday.

On Monday July 20, it will thankfully all be over. No more "soccer" as we North Americans call it. Although John Cleese has a very persuasive and humourous argument as to why it should be called football. No more CTV Toronto newscasts acting as a FIFA shill and no more product ads with FIFA tie-ins. The North American sports world can finally return to normal.

 
Well I have enjoyed the World Cup. Games were played at a decent time for North American viewers and with Canada being one of the hosts, plus fielding a good team, brought it home. I was proud of Team Canada, it is the furthest they’ve gone. And I hate to admit it but this cup was not without drama, and interference! Didn’t plan on that. Now I can go back to watching the Jays tank, dang.
