It's been 40 years since CHUM-FM had this big a change in its morning show line-up. And that's why it's so signfiicant that Josie Dye and Nat Turner made their debut on Monday. They're replacing the seemingly irreplaceable Marilyn Denis, who ended a four decade career two weeks ago.
Hunter spent nearly 22 years on the west coast, before coming back to the city where she was born. And Dye is a familiar voice to many, having spent many hours on air at both Indie 88.1 and CFNY. She's also a well known voice on CHUM-FM, having co-hosted the afternoon drive show alongside the station's Jamar McNeil.
Their new shows starts at 5:30 AM and ends at 9 in the morning. It's doubtful they'll make it a 40 year run, but anything's possible. And that countdown starts now.

Broadcast Dialogue did a podcast with the new morning duo, going over their careers and how they hope to make an impression in the most important time slot in the #1 market in the country. You can hear it here.

I haven't listened to CHUM FM since the days of Roger, Rick & Marilyn.

Me neither. I found that when Rick left, it wasn't quite the same. The three of them together was sheer lightning in a bottle.
I don't care for the music they've been playing for about the past 20 years either, although being a 59 year old male, I'm not in their demographic anyway. (Apparently I'm not in anybody's demographic that matters, it seems).

I haven't listened since they stopped playing Rush and Iron Maiden. Yuppie-pop and nice sweaters were not my forte. Mind you, it was a smart business decision, as they were fighting for the same diminishing audience as Q107. No doubt, that mid 80's format change made for a happy day for the folks at Q.
