Dave Bradley quits Corus

Dave Bradley is leaving 640 Toronto for an opportunity at Queen's Park. Nice man. Good luck.

Re: Dave Bradley quits Corus

I was very sorry to hear this on air Wednesday morning. He's my favourite early news reader. I like his delivery, his writing and his banter with Greg Brady. It's a shame to lose that voice. No word on who's replacing him, especially with the 640 newsroom already having so few people in it.

Danny Longo, who does afternoons, would be the obvious candidate, but regardless of who is chosen, it won't be the same.

Bradley's last day is Friday.

Agreed.  An exceptional newscaster.

Re: Dave Bradley quits Corus

Will he continue the motorsports announcing for TSN and Rev Tv ? I remember him when he was the track announcer for Barrie Speedway, long ago now.

He confirmed on Friday, his last day at 640, that he will continue his motorsports duties, so you haven't heard the last of him there.

Re: Dave Bradley quits Corus

Worth noting that his last newscast will be at 11 AM Friday, during Brad Smith's show. Still no word on what his new government job will be, but he did note he'll be happy not to have to get up at 2:30 in the morning every weekday.

Re: Dave Bradley quits Corus

A nice little send-off after the 11 AM news, with both the Brad Smith Show producer and Smith himself saying an on-air goodbye and paying tribute to Bradley, who, as expected, went off with the class he always showed on air. I'll miss hearing him next week.

Re: Dave Bradley quits Corus

AM640 appears to have a new morning newscaster. He sounds perfectly fine but does not have the same delivery as Dave Bradley. And I noticed he didn't do the long Q&A with morning host Greg Brady that made Bradley's newscast so entertaining.

I did not quite catch the guy's ID, although his first name is Scott and I've never heard him before. Does anyone know who he is or where he's from? I honestly thought they might promote afternoon newscaster Danny Longo to mornings or hand things over to Heather Goode. But at least on Monday, that wasn't who was reading the AM drivetime news.

Re: Dave Bradley quits Corus

Update: It appears his name is Scott Monich and he's listed as being the News Director of CFPL-AM in London. My guess is he's subbing until they find a more permanent replacement, but only time will tell.

Re: Dave Bradley quits Corus

Tuesday morning's AM640 news brought Heather Goode to the mic, so it appears they haven't settled on a set replacement yet. What I don't quite get is that Corus must have known about Bradley's plans to leave for weeks, if not months. They couldn't find a permanent replacement in all that time?
