Thank you for posting this. I am going to try to attend. It would be cool to see the old channel 8 TV studio.

For those of you planning to attend, perhaps you could take some photos and post them here for those who can't but would love to go.

Am I vaguely considering a day trip from across the border?
Yeah...

And having nothing better to do on a sunny Saturday, I'm on my way up to Wingham! Should get there 11:30-ish, and I will try to share some pictures.

That would be greatly appreciated.

The building is an impressive facility that was constructed in the 60's after the original burnt down.
My wife and I arrived around noon and waited in the lobby for about 30 minutes for a tour guide. The event was well attended. The guide showed us three studios; 94.5 FM, CKNX 920 and CKNX FM 101.7 we got to talk to some of the announcers and ask questions. Also visited the engineering room with several equipment racks and the engineer was there providing a basic description of the operation. Next was the production studio where again a gentleman gave us an overview of what they did and answered any questions. He emphasised how important funeral announcements were. Last stop was the defunct CKNX TV 8 studio where the local news was presented. There were many posters and photos to look at. We were out by 1:45 pm. Thanks to all the employees for their patience. At no time did we feel rushed. My wife is no radio enthusisest but she quite enjoyed the tour.
I also had the unexpected pleasure of meeting Scott Fybush and his lovely wife.
Thank you CKNX for an excellent tour and best wishes for another 100 years.
I will attempt to upload a few photos although I have not been successful doing this before.

Just got back from there myself. I haven't been inside any radio stations in recent years, so it was nice to see. Back in 1969 or 70 (I was 10 or 11 years old at the time) I had a tour of the building, and thought it was the coolest thing ever. That tour influenced me to eventually take up broadcast engineering as a career.
This time I was hoping that I might recognize anything from the last tour but, alas, with the TV part gone the building has changed around quite a bit.
I did meet up with a couple of fellow SOWNYers. Nice to put faces to the names!

Almost back across the border - it was great to meet some fellow board denizens and see such a friendly small town station!
I'll post some pictures tonight or tomorrow.

I had the pleasure of meeting Scott Fybush and his wife and also Davenet. Sorry that we didn't meet up darcyh, I really wanted to meet and talk to you.
I was at the station for two hours, and it seemed to still be busy when I left around 2:20. I was hoping to meet a few colleagues from when I worked at NX, and I did. One was John Chippa who retired a few years back. John was in the news department for 43 years, and I knew him from Conestoga College. He was in the class of '78. CKNX was one of those places where quite a few employees spent all, or almost all of career at the station.
It was a great day, well attended by the public. Such a big building for three radio stations now that CKNX TV is long gone! I forgot to ask if F. E. Madill high school next door was still renting out space. They were renting out some of the large office area and using it for classrooms I believe. The CKNX building is kind of funky, many levels inside and should be a heritage property since the architecture really represents the modern era of the early 1960's. The tour today was only a small part of the whole building.
As you will see by the photos when they get posted, CKNX did a wonderful job with tons of memorabilia and old equipment on display and hundreds and hundreds of photos everywhere. Thanks to the staff members who worked at hosting and shuffling the many groups of 10-15 people through the tour. They even had CKNX 100th Anniversary cookies wrapped in individual packages for anyone to have.

I still need to upload more pictures, but I put a few in my NERW column today along with a story about the open house.
And there's no paywall on this week's issue, so you can read to the end where the CKNX story is.
