Because it's in the Senators' territory who last time I checked weren't playing?

This aggression will not stand, man.

I understand the Senator's not wanting to help with the Habs watch party in Gatineau, why would they? But the NHL shouldn't be able to dictate when and where people can congregate to have a watch party for whatever NHL team.

Well put paterson1! I think the organizers of the watch party should have told the NHL to mind their own biz, they make enough money off fans like this.
It pisses me off just how much power professional sports organizations, NHL, FIFA etc. are allowed to force on municipalities or anyone hosting their events. For example, changing the name of BMO field for the World Cup is pretty petty, plus they’re demanding extra medics etc. over that of the original request. They also make a ton of money, so maybe cut out the BS, and they should have left the watch party alone.

I really don't get why the NHL said no. I thought the idea was to grow the game, but maybe this does not apply to Canada.
Also Ottawa was not playing and this was not a for profit event. It was to raise money for a respected registered charity.
In the real world, you grow the game by showing the playoffs in small towns. You would think people would go to Ottawa vs Montreal because Ottawa would be a little cheaper and its closer.
Its good for business and good for hockey.
Online!
Plus any Ottawa fans would likely be cheering for Carolina.

Canada needs its own hockey league.

This should make you feel a little better.

This did make me smile but the damage is done! The average fan, with their average salary, still won’t be going. Did I mention the cheapest ticket I saw for a Toronto game was $1863?
