This is not new and kind of amusing considering today Mickey owns the Alphabet Network. But back in 1959 ABC cancelled the quite popular primetime series Zorro after two seasons and 78 episodes. Why? Well ABC got into a nasty legal dispute over who owned the rights to Zorro, the just cancelled Mickey Mouse Club and Disneyland. The Mouse won and would produce four one hour syndicated Zorro episodes in 1960 and 61. The Mickey Mouse Club went into syndication. [Ch 2 Buffalo ran it late weekday afternoons] And of course Walt moved his signature show to NBC in the fall of 1961 because it could be broadcast in colour.
