MeTV is a television subcarrier on a station we rarely get in the GTA. It shows vintage comedies from the medium's Golden Age and airs locally on channel 67.1 from Springville, New York.
But it's in radio that it's found the most surprising success. It began in Chicago by broadcasting on 87.7, which used to be where the audio from VHF Channel 6 could be found. That station, called a Franken-FM by some because it's a hybrid of radio using TV, has become very popular in many cities where it's broadcast.
Why? It boasts an oldies format you don't normally hear.
"Rather than cycling through the same handful of chart-topping hits from any given era, the station weaves together familiar favorites with forgotten gems, B-sides, and deep album tracks that many listeners have not heard in years. The playlist spans the 1950s through the 1980s, touching on soft rock, Motown, classic pop, and lighter R&B sounds that evoke a sense of nostalgia without feeling dated."
While the syndicated format isn't likely to appear on any Buffalo radio station anytime soon, you can stream it online to see if it's the kind of station you've been missing. Check it out with a VPN here.

I have heard the station. Quite good actually. You can find it in the Chicago listings of the World Radio Map, As for METV and its cousin METVTOONS, both are available on one of those alternative sites of questionable legality.
