The numbers are good for the 2026 Super Bowl in the US with an average of 124.9 million viewers, down a couple of million from the record last year. Bad Bunny's half time show was also lower compared to Kendrick Lamar by about 5 million......Super Bowl 2026 hits 124.9 million viewers, down 2.8 million from last year
In Canada a different story with the average audience down 20% from last year and 32% from 2024...Canadian television ratings for Super Bowl LX fall 20 percent year-over-year - 3DownNation

One of the biggest differences between the US ratings and Canada's is NBC having the rights to both the Olympics and the Super Bowl, so they didn't have to compete with themselves. CTV had to compete with CBC..... a huge difference. Over 650,000 people were watching Olympic primetime instead of the "big game"

True the coverage of the Olympics certainly was a big factor in the drop in Canada. But even taking that into account Super Bowl TV numbers are still down over 1 million from last year north of the border, and over 3 million from 2024.

Next years game should be fun. It gets played on Valentine's Day. No problem for me. I'm single.

Does that mean your "heart" won't be in it?

The other million can be attributed to a weaker matchup and a spanish halftime performer that resonates with a smaller percentage of the Canadian audience compared to the US spanish population

Bad Bunny seems to have a lot of popularity beyond Spanish audiences. He has been the most streamed artist in the world three years in a row and in 2022 Billboard named him Artist of The Year. His latest album has reached #2 on the Canadian Top 100 charts. Also all of the 650,000 viewers of the Olympics during the Super Bowl wouldn't necessarily watch the football game if the Olympics weren't happening. Many of these might be light football fans or not at all.
I think the bigger concern would be the over 3 million drop in audience from two years ago. US TV viewership for the Super Bowl and NFL is huge and growing. In Canada seems to be dramatically going the other way.

I'm out for one year. I am committed to Valentine's day being Valentine's day.
Super Bowl is on the same day next year. My GF does not like football.
Happy wife, happy life right?
I'll just have to count on the online sources to see the SB ads for one year and skip Super Bowl altogether.
Oh well...at least it's only an issue for one year.

Perhaps you could use all the brownie points you have amassed during 2026 and cash them in on Feb 14 2027.
