Don't want to completely derail the CFCO thread so I thought I would start a new one. I received WOKR 1310 right now but a very weak signal as you can hear on the sample below. I am using a terk tunable loop antenna and my Sony FM/AM stereo receiver. Saul or anyone please chime in with suggestions to improve the reception.to the point where I get a stereo signal..
WOKR 1310 AM

High up in the hills near Canadaigua N.Y. Their coverage map shows daytime reception range just falling shy of the Lake Ontario shoreline.
I have an email into their website requesting data regarding elevation ASL and tower height. Just being inquisitive, as I used to deliver in that area almost fifty years ago. Hopefully Saul can help out with your antenna enhancements.

Thanks for the coverage map. I think I may be out of luck as the day time signal is too weak for stereo and at night I was mostly getting a spanish station.
The reception did improve marginally when I tried just now but not good enough.

They do stream their audio, if you can access that method.

I was streaming them and oddly the stream does not match what's on air. My main goal is to get a stereo over the air signal as my tuner is going unused except when I use my home am stereo transmitter. Perhaps Saul can tell me if the reception during the day may vary day to day or perhaps the signal may kick in some night. According to wiki they still brodcast in AM stereo.

I just received a return message from the president of Genesee Media regarding WOKR's specifics:
"We're an AM station, so the height and elevation are not really the story. But it's a 1,000 watt four tower array that is directional toward Rochester from Canandaigua, which would shoot across the lake to Ontario. The towers are 59.5 meters/195 feet. The elevation above sea level is about 750 feet. (We also have a 100 watt FM translator which would not be heard in Ontario except rarely during some atmospheric conditions that cause tropospheric ducting.)
The main reason that there's now reception in Ontario WOKR on 1310 kHz is that CIWW in Ottawa – which also was on 1310 – went off the air permanently on October 26, 2023. That also improved reception in our area."

And of course, losing the adjacent CJMR on 1320 when that station went online only, didn't hurt, either.

Re:AM stereo .As I recall there were 4 different formats for AM stereo. My 1989 Dodge would receive CKOC 1150 in stereo but not 1050 CHUM or any other Toronto AM stereo station because the Dodge only did one kind of AM stereo. This probably doomed AM stereo. It sounded almost as good as FM.

Even if AM Stereo and its superior sound had caught on, the more recent interference and reception issues that plague the band in cities would have killed it off anyway

Yes there were 4 system's. C-Quam proved to be the most adapted. My home transmitter is C-Quam but I believe my Sony Tuner could decode them all.

You are right in my recent endeavour to receive a stereo signal I have had to keep the overhead lights off and switch the power outlet for the computer or keep it on battery.
