Morning Shows & Earthquake Bumpers

I'm already starting to hear "earthquake" related bumpers on various talk shows Wednesday morning, after a small tremblor shook Southern Ontario early Wednesday morning.

So far, I've heard Carole King's "I Feel The Earth Move," "Rock Me Gently" by Andy Kim, and "Shaking All Over" by the early Guess Who. Still missing - "All Shook Up" by Elvis, "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" by Jerry Lee Lewis and The Cars' "Shake It Up."

I'm sure there are more and if this topic turns up on air, because it's so rare here, you could be hearing them as intro/rejoin music all day. Thankfully, this may be their only chance to play them!

And for you youngsters out there... "Shake It Off" Taylor Swift (of course)
"Twist And Shout" which has the opening line, "Well shake it now, baby."

Re: Morning Shows & Earthquake Bumpers

I was up when this happened, but I have to admit I didn't feel a thing. Too bad. Not that it's a good thing, but I always wanted to experience what an earthquake feels like. Hopefully, only a minor one!

And certainly not like the one that hit California during the baseball playoffs in Oct. 1989. I still remember when the ABC broadcast went off the air, with Al Michaels just barely able to say "I tell you what, we're having an earth---" and then the signal died.

Re: Morning Shows & Earthquake Bumpers

The CBC story map actually showed the location where I DX from. I wasn't there...

Re: Morning Shows & Earthquake Bumpers

Growing up in Vancouver I've experienced several earthquakes, none really serious but when you get a magnitude3.5 it is really noticible.
I remember one that was about an even four.
I was in bed and it made me jump out of bed and run downstairs and onto the street.
It is a really weird felling when there is a feeling of no stability under your feet.
Even 10 or 15 seconds is really unnerving.

Re: Morning Shows & Earthquake Bumpers

We had two ground shakers last summer in my area north west of Sudbury. Both related to blasting at the Creighton mine operation near Lively. The second one was very intense, my house shook, you could hear a rumbling sound outside that lasted around 8-10 seconds. It was a scary few moments.
