Leafs' William Nylander Could Face Fine After "Fingering" TSN

Idled Leafs hockey star William Nylander is apologizing after flipping the bird at a TSN camera for no apparent reason during the Avalanche game on Sunday. The Buds' forward has been off ice for injuries and when the camera panned into the box where he and other scratched players were sitting, Nylander for some reason decided to make the obscene gesture.

He has since apologized but there's a chance he could still face time in the NHL's penalty box, possibly having to pay a fine.

If an NHL player makes an obscene jesture to fans, the fine is $2500. I don't know if that would apply in this situation. If it does. I am sure Mr. Nylander will have little difficulty in paying it.

Exactly. The only likely real "punishment" for him is being publicly called out and bad-repped for it, and that's if he really cares. Apparently, he was frustrated about not being able to play due to injuries, which is honestly something I can actually understand. The team is suffering through a going-on 60-year Stanley Cup drought, and pressure to improve, perform and deliver must be intense for everyone involved.

And he has been. $5,000 U.S. - a drop in the bucket for an NHL player.
