Can someone -- anyone explain to me the story behind the email I received today??
It's promoting the Globe and Mail online auction...
Yes you read that right -- the Globe and Mail auction.
Google it and see for yourself...
It claims you can bid and buy trips, watches, vehicles and home furnishings and more...
Opening bids are according to my email half of retail value...
Am I that really far behind the times???
What the hell is the Globe doing with this kind of "promotion"??
What's next??
The Newstalk1010 strip joint??

No, that would be AM 640, should they choose to go back to talk radio for men.

Hells no ... There's a reason we got into a non-visual medium. 👙😘
Online!
Seems like this isn't a new thing. The bargain minded have been scouting the auction for at least 12 years.

This is done by papers in markets across the country.
Nothing new here.
Because they're all losing money, they're grasping at straws, trying to survive.

Something you've managed to do quite well over the years! Where did the time go?

Actually, I'd been on air at CKOV since Christmas Eve of 1961. It was my first chance to crack a live mic, granted it was only to give the call letters, time checks and brief weather forecasts between recorded Christmas shows. Started out as the station "gofer" after school and moved into operating, remote set ups, engineering, news and finally getting my own show in late 62. That was the start of 55 years in radio and TV. Best career ever, never worked a day in my life because I was having too much fun.
