Announcers & DJs On List Of Jobs Most Threatened By AI

This isn't new by any means - it was released in July - but Microsoft has a list of jobs most likely to be threatened by Artificial Intelligence - and announcers and DJs come in at #10. A panel of experts (all human presumably) looked at every possible profession that could see people replaced by A.I. and radio presenters came in in the top 10.

They also listed the professions least likely to be replaced by computer know-how. Phlebotomists - the people who take blood tests - topped the profession of those who will keep their jobs and not be lost to automated technology.

Important to note this is just a prediction and not yet a fact. But it's a Top 40 list that even Casey Kasem wouldn't want to count down - because it may have eliminated his former job were he still with us.

These 40 Jobs May Be Replaced by AI. These 40 Probably Won’t

Top 10 Jobs Most Likely To Be Eliminated By A.I.

1 Interpreters and Translators
2 Historians
3 Passenger Attendants
4 Sales Representatives of Services
5 Writers and Authors
6 Customer Service Representatives
7 CNC Tool Programmers
8 Telephone Operators
9 Ticket Agents and Travel Clerks
10 Broadcast Announcers and Radio DJs

Any text or prose I've read that's been produced by AI has been uniformly awful.

I think that people who desire well-written books and articles will still seek out those authored by humans. I hope there's enough of them to sustain that business.

It's my own personal bias but I don't think STORY writers will be affected by AI anytime soon. Other types of writing for sure, but I've been using AI regularly now for 3 years and I can attest to the fact that AI alone isn't going to generate a genuinely good, emotional story that resonates with a human audience (unless it literally rips off a pre-existing human-written story).

It would be nice if an author could just give a basic premise to a chatbot and have it churn out a masterwork that gets published and earns millions of dollars in royalties and gets optioned for a feature film, but from what I've seen, the writing is bland and cliched. I've had it try and write music lyrics too (just because my story needed a unique song for the characters to listen to) and I wasn't very impressed in that category either.

What I've noticed is how often A.I. is just plain wrong, misstating facts, making stuff up or simply using false or uncredited information it finds on the web. I use it only just to test the technology and it almost never gets it right. Don't trust anything it tells you.

Sales reps are fine, it's too core to the business to replace them with a robot. People want to deal their cash with humans.

Unfortunately just like with TV characters, people form bonds with non-people all the time and they begin trusting what they are told. Case in point, a mentally ill man who believed he was living inside a Matrix simulation asked for advice from ChatGPT, which made up conspiracy theories to validate his suspicions. He then murdered his mother.

AI chatbots can easily amplify something you are already feeling and any evidence it manufactures to help your point are just AI hallucinations (but many many people still don't understand this).

Agreed. I have a semi personal relationship with the customers who purchase a variety of seafood products daily at the grocery store where I am employed. Been doing that for 20 years. My boss for 41.
