I contacted the CBC to find out why there were no episodes scheduled to air Friday December 12 and 19. Much to my surprise, I got a response. They did confirm that episodes would not air on those dates with no reason given. They also informed me that Corrie will not air on Dec 25, 26 Jan 1 and 2. I know there are a few Corrie fans out there.

I certainly hope they return to their six episodes a week schedule, or else we'll fall way behind the UK broadcasts.
It seems now we're only a couple of weeks behind.
BTW, for Corrie fans only, I'm eager to see how the Todd/Theo domestic abuse story line works out. Also, I'm enjoying the new character Maggie, the new Rover's co-owner.

I f the double Friday episodes continue to disappear, perhaps it is because we are getting too close to the episodes airing in Britain. I don't know what the CBC agreement with ITV is. Personally, I think the Friday episodes will return January 9th.

When Pauline McLynn’s Maggie said something about “a nice cup of tea” in a recent episode, my wife and I almost fell down in helpless laughter. That was the famous phrase McLynn used when she played Mrs. Doyle on the Irish TV comedy Father Ted.
I’m told Corrie is moving from six to five episodes in Britain as of the new year.

That could possibly mean that in the future CBC will only run a single Friday episode.

Mace, I believe that will indeed be the plan moving forward.

When the CBC began running Coronation Street in 1966, they started with the December 1960 permiere episode, so Canada started off six years behind the current episodes. Over the past many decades we have almost caught up to what is airing in Britain. I think we are currently two or three weeks behind. It is easy to tell when the Christmas Day episode runs. Is there some part of the contract between the CBC and ITV that the episodes that are broadcast in Canada must always be almost a month behind the British episodes. I would love to be caught up or at the very least next day broadcast.

There is a way to do this, but it takes a bit of trouble on your part.
Like most networks, ITV in Britain has its own website where people can watch their shows online for free.
Change your VPN to the U.K., go to their site, sign up for a free account, and then search for "Coronation Street." Not sure if they ask for an address, but there are plenty of websites that provide you with one if you do a simple search for U.K. postal codes.
An entire year's worth of episodes (going back to Jan. 1, 2025) are there, including the one that ran yesterday. They do have commercials, unless you want to pay for a premium subscription. But it's otherwise free to join.
