It's really more of an administrative move than anything new, but on Monday, the CRTC confirmed that it has officially revoked the licences of Disney XD, Disney Jr. Nickelodeon, ABC Spark, and the French language La Chaîne De Disney.
It was announced several months ago that the Corus-owned stations would be going dark on cable and the revocation of their licences was all that remained to declare them officially dead. That final procedure was completed on Monday, more failed ventures for a company that has seen far too many of them.

I have said it before, I feel for Corus. They ruled children’s broadcasting in Canada for a couple of decades, even producing content for them through Nelvana, their animation division. Children’s programming is fairly expensive to produce/purchase on top of it. Streaming has changed all that and Corus didn’t really get on that side of distribution to the degree they should have. But they’re not the only ones, MTV is pulling the plug on some of their channels and there will be more!

No great loss for me. I don't have kids, so they were never watched in my home. No problem either with some/all of the MTV's going dark.
