His name is Connor Ray or Rae, and it appears he's filling in for Stuart McGinn on Monday. I've never heard him before, and he sounds like a bit of a rookie. but otherwise has a solid read.
I've heard several of his newscasts on CFRB Monday and there's an obvious issue he's probably not even aware of. He says the letter "A" as "ayy" (i.e. the long "a," like Fonzie on Happy Days) each and every time, even when it's unnecessary. For example, one story was about a local house fire.
It came out something like this:
"Ayy house fire in North York has left ayy family without ayy place to stay, after ayy call to authorities last night."
Every single time there's a separate "A" in one of his stories, he pronounces it the long way, even if it should sound more like "uh." (As in "uh house fire has left uh a family..." etc.) Not a big deal, I suppose, but if they still had "ayy" news director, I'm sure they'd talk to him about this so it would stop before the rest of the morning run went on. But in the absence of one, I'm quite sure it will continue. Ayy real distraction.

He's also very nasal.
That too is something that can be improved with some voice coaching. But alas I don't think anybody gets any voice coaching or mentoring any more.
Of course the other extreme is the old days of Ted Baxterish bombast.
Used to be a man had to sound like that because he's on RAAAAADDIO!!!

So if I cheated at cards with this guy, he'd call me an Ace Hole?
