Talk about a scary Halloween trick that's not a treat...

It would take two pages to list all the "Christmas" songs I detest. If it is not performed by the original artist I don't want to hear it. I can take the Perry Como's, Burl Ives, Nat King Cole's Crosby's and Sinatra's in small doses. But the rest of the Yule slop that is passed off as Holiday Hits makes me wish for Boxing Day to arrive as quickly as possible. Yes I know some out there will simply say don't listen which is certainly an option in my personal time. However, when you work retail, that option disappears.

Anne Murray is the perfect host for a Christmas channel on SiriusXM.  She did release 8 Christmas albums in her career, so somebody must have liked them. Anne also had 5 highly rated Christmas TV specials.  A correction, the Sirius channel isn't all Canadian.  Mariah Carey, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson aren't Canadian.  Looks like it does have a strong Canadian representation with Celine Dion, Michael Buble, Barenaked Ladies, Blue Rodeo, Bryan Adams.   All these artists have popular Christmas music.  Also special music from Chantal Kreviazuk will be featured.

For those that like all Christmas tunes this channel should be popular, and likely a nice seasonal change.

 Channel 79 is also all Christmas as "Holly Christmas"

Holiday songs are coming to a station near you, regardless of whether you want them or not. And according to an American research company called the P1 Media Group, there's a #1 song for those who love Christmas music - and despite what you hear on the radio, it's not Mariah Carey.

Their survey was done with a sample size of 400 listeners between the ages of 25-54 in 50 U.S. radio markets, and indicates the all time top tested Xmas song on radio is "Jingle Bell Rock" by Bobby Helms, the eighth time in the past nine years it's occupied the top position. 

And Carey's "All I Want For Christmas," which never seems to be off the radio between mid-November and late December? It didn't even make the Top 40, coming in at #41.

I have never minded hearing different versions of Christmas songs or newer, unfamiliar Christmas music.  Still enjoy the Christmas classics, but there are not enough of them and this is why I never listen to stations that play all Christmas.  Zoomer plays the best of the best IMO, and a lot of interesting material you don't hear anywhere else.  They also mix in Christmas tunes slowly with the regular music and don't go 100% until right before the 25th.  

The horror!
