WBBK - AM

Sadly, this video is but a metaphor for most of the AM Band.

Re: WBBK - AM

It's very different in the States because they never had to worry about 49% non hits back in the day, pushing AM music to FM a lot faster.

Re: WBBK - AM

Fascinating.
But made me wonder whether Georgia has the Castle Doctrine law.

Re: WBBK - AM

The same content creator visited the abandoned site of Alabama's WTVY - TV studio/transmitter site. During the first visit, he misstated that it had closed in 1978. He later corrected that to 1993. His first visit was 5 years ago.

Part 1:

Part 2:

Apparently, WTVY - TV Alabama still operates, but with their post-1993 tower located in Bethlehem, Florida. The newer tower, located a few miles south of Alabama, is the tallest structure in the entire state of Florida. However, WTVY - FM continues to transmit from this original TV tower in Alabama. That's why the visitor heard activity in that out-building.

The 49 per cent regs were for FM. It was an attempt by the governing body to make music on AM viable a little longer.

I believe WTVY is licenced to Dothan, Alabama. Ipicked them up one Suday morning back in the mid 1980's so strong the signal came in with the antenna pointed to Buffalo. Normally it had to be pointed west for skip.
