In part, benefit of the doubt might go to ownership change. It could be that when Grant Broadcasting made their exit, Power broadcasting wanted to make changes, perhaps in ways he wasn't happy with...but that's just a guess.
(to name one example...and I did say in part...)

Look at me, I’m still hip! Honest! See my oversized specs? They make me look 25 again, don’t they? And my crazy ass hair screams cool! (As if it was 1990 again). Trying too hard is never a good look IMO.

-Uneducated leaders who are still d*ckmatized by accents? Sad but true. No shortage of overseas cats with inflated resumes charming their way into nine lives in Canadian media.

I am 72 and don't care about looking younger. Most people think I am in my mid 50's. My wardrobe consists of Levi's, golf shirts, t-shirts with amusing sayings, and casual/dressy flannel shirts. I don't care about the latest fashion trends and never have. I haven't owned a suit in 30 years. If I have to attend a funeral, I rent a suit from Moores. I have not yet reached the point in my life where my pants are just below my armpits. I have also lost weight, so I am no longer suffering from furniture disease. That is where your chest sinks to your drawers.

I could never figure out why the old men on 'America's Funniest Videos' were always losing their pants when they raised their arms. Now that I have reached that age, I see how it's possible. 🙁

I don't know Ronnie personally and have never met him but from listening to the stations he has programmed I like his approach. He is probably the best programming mind that has ever been at Evanov and I am surprised they could afford him. Unfortunately I don't think this will last very long or end well, it's never good to replace a PD who also owns the company.

So many Canadian radio programmers seemed to be charmed with an accent ahead of legit talent.
