Up until this week, Hulu had only been available in the US. Disney has announced as of this week that Hulu would be available in Canada and other international markets, and the Star brand is no more. Also the company will be increasing monthly rates for some packages, This follows an increase in the US two weeks ago.

Hulu Lite is probably what Canada will receive.

What’s the Star brand? I thought there were Star branded channels in Europe, Asia etc.

In August I resorted to listening to 680 News in the hope they could provide an accurate traffic update. I foolishly kept listening while driving, and was rewarded by a 'what's on streaming?' entertainment report in which they summarised all of the hot new shows streaming on Hulu. A service unavailable in Canada that takes significant pains to defeat VPN countermeasures.
I was so annoyed that I missed the traffic. It's shit like this that makes 680 News small, amateur and insignificant.

I saw ads during the ball game on sportsnet for Hulu Originals on Disney. As of this morning (Wednesday) within Star there is a sub category called “Hulu Originals”
On the main screen however, the main channel choices remain as “Disney; Pixar; Marvel; Star Wars; National Geographic/ and Star”. It is not clear whether Star is being phased out as a brand, but for the most part Hulu Originals are a featured sub-category within Star. Obvoiusly confusing. I think there’s a bit of confusion as between the Hulu service - available only in the US, and what Disney is calling “Hulu Originals” which are programs which have been created specifically for the Hulu service in the US. One other point, these Hulu originals have been up on Star for months…it seems that now Disney is identifying those programs within a sub-menu on Star.
