Tuesday: Kimmel To Appear On Colbert, Colbert To Appear On Kimmel

I mentioned this in a previous thread, but thought it might be worth one of its own, simply because it's so unusual and some here might want to set their DVRs for it.

In an almost unprecedented move, the beleaguered Jimmy Kimmel will be a guest on Stephen Colbert's show this Tuesday.

On that same night, Colbert will appear on Kimmel's show, which he's taking on the road to Brooklyn for the week.

It's very rare for the late night hosts to even mention their competition, let alone make appearances on each other's show.

But we live, as the old Chinese curse goes, in interesting times and given the past few weeks, with Kimmel's suspension and return and Colbert's cancellation, nothing is surprising anymore.

If you miss this, I'm sure it will get millions of hits on YouTube the following morning, and you can likely see both of these special guests there. Definitely Must See TV for me, as this late night soap opera continues to unfold.

They're probably mobilizing federal troops in anticipation of the crossover...🤨

Re: Tuesday: Kimmel To Appear On Colbert, Colbert To Appear On Kimmel

The late night hosts talk about each other quite a bit.  During COVID Seth Meyers was always talking about being in touch with Kimmel, Cordan, Fallon and Colbert.  In fact he made it sound like they get together on a semi regular basis.  Fallon and Kimmel switched shows three years ago for an April Fools joke.  Even Johnny Carson for a long time would talk about his main competitor on CBS, Merv Griffin.  Carson would poke fun at Griffin's "theme shows" which CBS tried for a few years, hoping to boost faltering ratings.

Re: Tuesday: Kimmel To Appear On Colbert, Colbert To Appear On Kimmel

Just a reminder for those who care that this happens Tuesday night on their 11:35 PM shows. Will it be separate appearances on each other's shows or will they simply both do their segment via satellite at the same time?

This is highly promotable for both shows. I'm kind of surprised there hasn't been more publicity about it.

Word is that it was a triumvirate - Seth Meyers also turned up for the Colbert segment on Kimmel's show.

Letterman and Leno were such rivals they wouldn't even mention each other.

After all is said and done, more is usually said than done.

I love the fact that all the late night hosts are on a groupchat together. You can't imagine Letterman, Leno, Conan, and Craig Ferguson having had that (if such a thing had existed). Interestingly though, it turns out Leno and Ferguson are friends in real life.
