They had their chance and they blew it. So unless you're an Apple TV subscriber, you won't be able to see the Jays potentially win the A.L. East title on Friday.
Last week, as most here recall, Rogers swung a deal with Apple to broadcast what they hoped would be the playoff clincher across the country. It didn't happen, but part of the bargain was giving Apple exclusive rights to this Friday's game. And depending on how things work out, fans here could miss another milestone.
"Depending on results from Thursday's games, the Blue Jays could have a chance on Friday to win the American League East Division title for the first time since 2015.
However, instead of airing on Sportsnet, the Jays-Rays matchup will only be shown on Apple TV+, leaving non-subscribers without a viewing option."
Of course, the way the Jays have been playing the last week, it may not matter. But either way, you won't be able to see it.
No simulcast deal this time around for potential Blue Jays' clincher
So just in case you miss it, here's the next best thing.

They panicked and are getting burnt.

Actually it seems the math will work out for Sportsnet. The Jays can't clinch the AL East on Friday. The earliest that could happen would be Saturday.
So it looks like they're off the hook for now. Although fans certainly won't be happy to find the game's not on SN.

As of now, the game is ONLY on Apple. But, what I have heard is the Jays can't clinch anything tonight.
Go Jays Go!!

A rather assuming headline for this post RA?? There has always been a chance the clincher would be on Sportsnet.

Not really. This post was written before Thursday night's game. If things had worked out, with the Jays winning and the Yankees losing - which did not happen - Friday's game could have been the clincher with a Jays win. So no, at the time of the post, it wasn't assuming. It could have happened.

Could have but didn't. Posting "No chance" makes it sound like it's a fait accompli, even though it was posted prior to the Thursday outcome. I'm with p1 on this one and I don't care about baseball one (Ernie) whit.

Here's another unique thing those who don't have Apple TV will miss. For one of the first times, the broadcast will incorporate Apple iPhones as part of their camera coverage. It will be on the Tigers-Red Sox game and not on the Jays, but if it works, it could change the way future sporting events are covered.
The phone will be "used to cover gameplay from four positions in Boston's Fenway Park. These will include the home dugout, the Green Monster (the nickname for the stadium's famous left field wall) and one that will be roaming around the stadium."
I wonder if Apple is paying for the exposure, sort of an ultimate product placement that lasts for nine innings.

Copying Amazon, where Prime trucks and such have an inordinate number of appearances in shows and and movies produced for Amazon's streaming service.
Tangentially, I've long been wondering when we'll see the first Hollywood blockbuster shot entirely on a mobile phone.

If you subscribe to Prime Video, you can get a free 7 day trial of Apple TV, go through the phone app to get it.

I know it's a little late but I found it on thetvapp.to in low def, but it's better than nothing.

I was able to watch bits and pieces of it live on the MLB Network.

Sportsnet displayed the current score of the Rays-Jays game in the bottom right corner of the screen on my tv during the Yankees-Orioles coverage. I watched the second episode of The Lowdown, and Peacemaker on DVR during that game and flipped to check the scores during both.
