Not to pick on the great Sandi Rinaldo, but she or someone in the CTV newsroom ought to have known how to pronounce this name. Sandi may not be a curling fan, but surely she's been around long enough to hear the name Brad Gushue after all his national and international curling success. But while introducing the story about Brad's retirement announcement on Thursday, Sandi twice called him GUSH'-oo instead of GOO'-shoo. At least the reporter doing the story got it right.
This wasn't quite as bad as Pauline Chan or Zuraidah Alman butchering the late-night sports copy, but Sandi should have done better.

Admittedly. I don't follow curling and I have never heard of this person. I would have pronounced his name as Gush-ooo as well. However, a prominent National broadcaster should know the proper pronunciation, and in reviewing the copy, if they are unfamiliar, ASK!
