Qodosen DX-286

I bought this radio earlier this summer and performs quite well for its size. It has excellent AM nulling capabilities and with headphones, the stereo sound is amazing. The rechargeable battery lasts pretty close to seven days. Recharging takes about two hours. However, the radio has one quirk. It automatically turns itself on every day at Noon. Any idea why this would happen?

Re: Qodosen DX-286

Sounds like it has a built in alarm program that you're not aware of. It's so you can use it like an alarm clock in the morning if you wanted to.

No radio would do that without a way to turn it off. You need to find out how to adjust the settings. Check the instructions to find out where it is in the menu or go online to locate it.

I used to have a watch that beeped every hour on the hour - including in the middle of the night. It was unbelievably annoying and I have no idea why anyone would want such a feature. I finally found out how to turn it off via a website, because others had experienced the same thing.

I'm 100% sure you can fix this. You just need to find out how.

Wow. I must really be out of the loop these days. Haven't heard of this one. In reading the reviews it looks like a great radio. Who sells it?

Re: Qodosen DX-286

Amazon.ca sells it.  It looks cheaper on AliExpress, then you see the Shipping fee!

It does pay to look around though. When I bought the predecessor SR-286, the big difference was how  many batteries it came with, and the quality of battery supplied.  Most came with Zero batteries!  I saw batteries bragging 9000 mAh that lasted one third as long as one that correctly listed 3600 mAh capacity.

Finally, if you buy batteries separately, be aware that the same model number is sold with or without a "tip" like you see on the positive end of household batteries.  You need a tip.  I have also seen the same model batteries that are too long, normally because they include a USB jack in the battery itself.
