Her name is Veronika Slowikowska, and you may have never heard of her. She began to gain fame through both TikTok and Instagram, before branching out into more traditional media, like TV shows.
She certainly attracted the attention of fellow Canuck Lorne Michaels, who has chosen the 29-year-old Barrie native as a cast member for the venerable Saturday Night Live, when it returns to NBC.
Previous credits include one of the Degrassi spin-offs, Murdoch Mysteries, and the Baroness Von Sketch Show.
Her debut on the long running late night staple comes on October 4th.

Yes, Johnny was pushing NBC to have a new program on Saturday night, rather than just a repeat of the Tonight Show. He was thought he and the his show were getting over exposed and people would tire of the program.

Apparently Johnny wasn't too impressed with Saturday Night when it first premiered. I remember reading in Rolling Stone magazine that he was quoted as saying the Not Ready for Prime Time Players "couldn't ad-lib a fart in a bean-eating contest." But obviously he warmed up to them over the years.
